Servings: 1 serving
Ingredients
  • 1 large tomato
  • 1 tbsp ground oregano
  • tsp fresh garlic, minced*
  • 1 tsp ground paprika
  • ½ tsp onion powder**
  • sea salt (to taste)
  • pepper (to taste)
Instructions
  1. In a sauce pan, bring 2-3 cups of water to a boil.

  2. While waiting for the water to boil, cut several small slices in the skin to the tomato.

  3. Prepare an ice bath by pouring 2-3 cups of water in a bowl and add about a cup of ice cubes, set aside.

  4. Once the water has reached a rolling boil, add the full tomato.

  5. Leave the tomato in the boiling water for 2 minutes

  6. Immediately remove the tomato from the sauce pan and place the tomato in the ice bath to stop the cooking process.

  7. Once the tomato is cool enough to handle, remove the tomato skin by careful pulling it off in small pieces.

  8. Place the tomato into a blender or food processor and puree until it has reached your desired consistency.

  9. Pour the pureed tomato back into the sauce pan, add spices.

  10. Turn the heat back on, and bring the tomato sauce to a boil.

  11. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12 minutes. Stir the tomato sauce often to prevent sticking.

  12. Remove the lid and cook for 7 more minutes.

Recipe Notes

Depending on the juiciness of your tomato, you may need to add a few tablespoons of water to reach the desired consistency of the Pizza Sauce.

*You should always mince fresh garlic rather than using pre-minced garlic from the grocery store. Most pre-minced garlic contain preservatives. Be on the safe side... mince your own fresh garlic cloves for the best possible weight loss.

**Check the ingredients of the onion powder, as some brands of onion powder can contain unallowed ingredients such as -dextrose. Avoid any onion powder brand with words ending in -ose, -tol, or -dextrin.
