How to Store DIY HCG Diet Drops

Whether you have done the diet previously or you are a newbie, you need to know how to properly store HCG drops. Before the bottle has been opened, it should be stored in an area away from microwaves and direct sunlight. A dark, cool place is ideal until you are ready to break the seal and begin the HCG Diet.

What type of drops do I have?

After the seal is broken and the bottle opened, you will first want to look at the label on your drops to see if they are alcohol-based or mineral water-based. This will determine how to store them. If they are mineral water-based, they need to be refrigerated after opening the bottle in between uses.

However, if they are alcohol-based, refrigeration is not necessary if you are going to be using them within 30 to 45 days of opening the bottle. Why not? Because HCG drops are made using the homeopathic method. When mixed with alcohol as part of its liquid medium, the alcohol acts as a preservative. It keeps the HCG active and effective and kills bacteria that otherwise may grow in the solution.

Even though the DIY HCG drops do not require refrigeration, you will want to avoid extreme temperature changes once the bottle is open. Women may keep them in a purse but leaving the bottle in the car would not be optimum if temperatures are extreme. If you are not going to use an open bottle of alcohol-based HCG for several months or even a couple of weeks, you should place the bottle in the refrigerator to maintain the potency.

How long are my drops good?

Now that you know how to store your drops correctly, you may be wondering about the shelf life of an unopened bottle. Our DIY HCG drops have an expiration Month/Year printed on each bottle that is approximately 4 years from the day the HCG was bottled. Theoretically, before opening, if our homeopathic HCG is kept in a cool place away from EMF (electromagnetic fields) it will last for years. However, once the bottle is opened, it will inevitably be contaminated with saliva, air, etc. and will last 6-8 weeks if not kept in the refrigerator and up to 6 months if refrigerated.
