Goals of the HCG Diet Protocol
There are three main goals to strive for when following the HCG Diet Protocol.
- Lose weight (Of course!)
- Reset—Fix—Increase Base Metabolism
- Maintain Weight Loss
Following the protocol with 100% accuracy will help you achieve the typical weight loss success of 20-30 pounds within 6 weeks or 40 days.
Reset/fix/increase your base metabolism requires the completion of a minimum of 20 consecutive, non-cheating, effective HCG days following the 500-calorie restricted diet. This does not include the “gorge” or fat “load” days.
Dr. Simeons said, “We never give a treatment lasting less than 26* days, even in patients needing to lose only 5 pounds. It seems that even in the mildest cases of obesity, the diencephalon requires about three weeks’ rest from the maximal exertion to which it has been previously subjected in order to regain fully as treatment is stopped as soon as the weight is normal, which may be achieved in a week, as it is much more easily regained than after a full course of 23 injections.”
He went on to say, “Interruptions occurring before 20 effective injections have been given are most undesirable because with less than that number of injections, some weight is liable to be regained. After the 20th injection, an unavoidable interruption is merely a loss of time.”
For the best results during the protocol and for the rest of your life, following the 20, consecutive, non-cheating, HCG days with the 500-calorie diet is essential.
Maintaining your weight loss is going to be determined mainly by how well you performed the goal of resetting your metabolism and how well you perform the Maintenance Phase. During this phase, you try to maintain what we refer to as a “new weight set point.” This set point is the morning weight you record on the very last day you take the HCG weight loss drops. The objective is to keep your weight in the acceptable range (not more than 2 pounds above or below your “last HCG weight”. To do this, you want to avoid sugars and starches the first 3 weeks and slowly add them in during the 2nd 3 weeks of maintenance. Make sure you continue to weight daily and journal your morning weight as well as all food and drinks. If you gain more than 2.1 pounds over your last HCG weight, be sure you perform a “steak day” on that very day.
Use these goals as your guide to achieve ultimate, long-term weight loss success!
*2 gorge days + 21 days taking hcg and following low-calorie diet + 3 days NO hcg but following low-calorie diet = 26.
